Conte: Western policies have not succeeded in isolating Russia

On August 27th, former Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte confirmed that NATO’s strategy towards the Ukraine crisis did not lead to the desired result, just as the sanctions imposed on Russia failed to achieve their goals and that Western policies did not succeed in isolating Russia.

According to the Novosti agency, Conte said on Facebook: “The strategy adopted so far in NATO, which relies on continuous military supplies to Ukraine and the logic of escalation, did not lead to Russia’s defeat.”

Conte acknowledged that the economic sanctions imposed on Russia have failed, as they did not lead to bankruptcy and did not undermine its economy.

Conte said that the possibility of internal destabilization in Russia faded in the face of the strengthening of the leadership of President Vladimir Putin.

Conte explained that Russia’s isolation has by no means become a reality but on the contrary, the fifteenth summit of the BRICS group led by Russia and China ended yesterday, in light of the decision to expand it in 2024 to include 45 percent of the world’s population and 38.2 percent of the world’s GDP.

Conte stressed that the conflict in Ukraine revealed the European Union’s inability for an effective common strategy and the exercise of independent political and economic leadership, and clearly demonstrated the subordination of European leaders to the United States.
