Syria condemns recent US and French accusations against the country of using chemical weapons in 2013
Syria has condemned recent US and French statements that included false accusations against the country of using chemical weapons in 2013 and of other fabricated incidents.
In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that the new accusations, issued recently by the French Foreign Ministry and the spokesperson of the US National Security Council against Syria, are part of the lies and misinformation made by the foreign ministries of the two countries in their previous anti-Syria statements and they confirm the two countries’ participation, alongside other countries, in planning for this heinous crime within the framework of their full partnership in the direct and indirect terrorist attacks on Syria and their crimes against the Syrian people that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The ministry added that such statements aim at covering up the real criminal and the involvement of France and the United States in the incident of using chemical weapons by the terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus countryside in August 2013 and in other incidents.
The ministry reiterated that the French and American statements affirm the continuity of the successive French and US governments in adopting aggressive policy against the Syrian people, particularly at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and other international gatherings
It expressed Syria’s condemnation of the two countries’ policies of practicing more economic and political pressure on Syria and of covering up their responsibility for supporting the terrorists and separatist groups and supplying them with chemical materials and weapons that were used by the terrorists in all the chemical incidents that took place in Syria.
The ministry went on to say that the United States and France know well that the Syrian state is keen the most on the lives of its citizens and on their economic, scientific and cultural achievements. This was proved by the two statements which admitted that France and the United States as well as many western countries are behind issuing politicized resolutions by the OPCW based on reports fabricated in dark intelligence and terrorist rooms against Syria with the aim of diverting the OPCW away from its technical mission and politicizing its work.
The ministry asserted that the French and American officials and their allies should be held accountable as they cooperated with the terrorist organizations in Syria and took part in shedding the Syrian blood and have been practicing the policy of starving the Syrian people through terrorism and immoral unilateral coercive economic measures that violate the international law and the UN Charter.
