Czech traveler hails ancient architecture in Damascus

Prague – The Czech traveler Ondrej Havelka has shed light on the ancient architecture in Damascus, citing the Umayyad Mosque as an example of this art of building.

Under the title, “Syrský Damašek a jeho unikátní chrám” (Syria’s Damascus and its Unique Temple), Ondrej posted a report on Seznam Medium website that included colored photos for the mosque. He described what the architects and builders left in Damascus as a real paradise.

“What is more interesting is to tour Damascus streets and contemplate the art of the ancient architects who gave Damascus a unique atmosphere,” said Ondrej.

He hailed the amazing way of building the Umayyad Mosque, pointing out that this Mosque is a very important place that is visited by many Muslims around the world and that has an exceptional historical importance for the Christians.

He concluded by saying that the visitor to the Umayyad Mosque can delve deep in history, as the mosque’s history, location and atmosphere as well as its vital present are matchless.
