Palestinian Foreign Ministry: The occupation’s policy of depriving the Palestinians of water reflects the international community’s failure to protect human rights
Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Foreign Ministry affirmed that the Israeli occupation authority’s policy of depriving the Palestinians of water reflects an abject international failure, not only in obliging the occupation to apply international law and international legitimacy resolutions related to the Palestinian cause, but also a failure in guaranteeing the basic human rights of the Palestinian people.
The Ministry stated today that the policy of depriving Palestinians of water is part and parcel of the permanent collective punishment imposed by the occupation, and is an extension of its open war and colonial measures aimed at accelerating the gradual annexation of the occupied West Bank and the displacement of Palestinians from it.
The Ministry indicated that the occupation authorities steal the water of the Palestinian people and wage an open sabotage war on the Palestinian water networks and facilities, including the demolition of wells and reservoirs and preventing the Palestinians from digging more wells while providing the settlers with abundant quantities of water at the expense of the Palestinians.
The Israeli occupation authorities steal the water that belongs to the Palestinian people and sell a small amount of it back to them to the point water is not available most days of the year, especially in the summer, and the quantities of water allocated to some cities, such as Bethlehem and Al-Khalil (Hebron), were deliberately reduced during the recent heat wave, it said, according to WAFA News agency.
