Syrian swimmer withdraws from World Aquatics Championships in Japan due to presence of “Israeli” player

The Syrian international swimmer Hammam Hashim Mualla withdrew from the 200-meter butterfly race at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Japan due to the presence of an “Israeli” player.

Born in Damascus in 1973, Mualla is one of the swimmers of the national team. He participated in many local, international and continental championships.

Mualla is getting ready to participate in the World Championships 2024 in Qatar.

It is to be noted that Mualla was one of the national team long-distance swimmers between 1990 and 2004. He participated in many local, international and continental championships and achieved titles in the Republic championships in butterfly races from 1990 to 2004. He won two golds and two silvers in the 1990 Al-Fajr International Championships and achieved the 6th place in the World Championships in Argentina for the 88 km race in 1997, 3rd place in the Greece International 30 km Race in 1988, 5th place in the 25 km race world championship in Japan 1999, 2nd place in the 15 km race world championship in Canada in 2000. He also swam the English Channel (La Manche) in both directions between England and France 2001 within teams, won the 1st place in the Asian Long Course Swimming Championships in Qatar 2002 within teams and won a bronze medal in Kuwait 2004.

Mualla is currently the president of the Syrian Swimming Federation.
