Russian Embassy denies categorically Bogdanov’s statement

DAMASCUS, (ST)-“an item of news released on Thursday  by  some media outlets, attributed to Russian President’s Special Envoy  and Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov , on President Bashar Al-Assad’s running for presidency is categorically untrue, “said the Russian embassy-based in Damascus.

Replying to a question put by the Syrian state-run agency, the Russian embassy clarified that the original text of the interview with Mr Bogdanov is published on Russian INTERFAX website and the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Russia’s stance  towards solution to the crisis in Syria didn’t change, as Moscow still convinced that all issues related to Syria future, including whom will be the president, should be determined by the Syrians, through national dialogue and without any foreign intervention ,”asserted the embassy.

The embassy further affirmed that efforts should be intensified of all sides to combat terrorism in Syria as the upcoming Geneva conference would be a serious opportunity regarding this matter.
