Makhlouf discusses with the ambassador of Serbia ways to enhance Syrian-Serbian cooperation

Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf today discussed with the Serbian Ambassador to Damascus Radovan Stojanovic the cooperation relations between the two friendly countries.

Makhlouf pointed to the importance of the humanitarian aid provided by Serbia to Syria within the framework of the humanitarian response to those affected by the earthquake.

Makhlouf said that the government has drawn up a plan to deal with the repercussions of the earthquake including those related to infrastructure and reconstruction.

He referred to the challenges caused by unilateral Western economic measures, the accumulation of the effects of the destruction caused by the terrorist war on Syria and the repercussions of the earthquake disaster, which affect the implementation of these projects and plans.

Makhlouf pointed to the possibility of cooperation with the Serbian side to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the facilities damaged by the earthquake and the terrorist war, including water network, schools and hospitals, as they represent a basic need for citizens.

For his part, Stojanovic stated that the humanitarian assistance provided by the government and the Serbian people to those affected by the earthquake is an expression of solidarity with the Syrian people.

He pointed to the continuation of coordination to implement joint projects within the earthquake recovery plans and according to the priorities that are agreed upon in the light of the needs.
