Syria: Terrorist attack on a bus carrying Syrian Army personnel in Deir Ezzor is part of US escalation against Syria’s sovereignty and independence

Damascus- Syria has stressed that the crime of targeting a bus carrying Syrian army personnel in Deir Ezzor countryside by the US occupation forces and their affiliated terrorist organizations come within the framework of the US escalation against Syria’s sovereignty and independence and within the context of the US support for terrorist organizations, foremost of which is ISIS.

The US occupation forces and their affiliated terrorist organizations yesterday committed a new crime by targeting a bus carrying a number of Syrian Army personnel south of Deir Ezzor which led to the martyrdom of a number of soldiers and the injury of several others, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement on Saturday.

The statement added that the US occupation employs ISIS and the separatist militia as a tool to implement its schemes in Syria and the region, particularly because this criminal act comes in conjunction with the US continuous theft of Syria’s resources, including oil and agricultural crops, and with the increasing economic pressure practiced by western countries on the Syrian people with the aim of prolonging the occupation and destabilizing the entire region.

The ministry clarified that this painful incident recalls the attack that was carried out by the US occupation forces on September 17, 2016, against the Syrian Arab Army’s positions in Jabal Al-Therda area in Deir Ezzor to assist ISIS terrorist organization in controlling this position.

The ministry concluded by stressing that Syria affirms its determination to press ahead with its war on terrorism until it is completely eliminated and it confirms its commitment to work in accordance with the international law in order to liberate its lands from the US, Israeli and Turkish occupation.
