Souria Btjmana (Syria Brings Us Together), a non government organization and a volunteering national social institution that has been working in Syria since 2011, within the framework of social solidarity programs, to implement a set of initiatives and programs to alleviate the economic burdens on needy Syrian families in the light of the current difficult economic circumstances.

Besides providing food supplies, clothes and other kinds of material assistance to orpahnages and needy families, Souria Btijmana has launched several development programs, including “Bidaya” (Beginning) which aims at providing support for the wounded soldiers of the Syrian Army, “Nabd” (Pulse) which helps students secure their school requirements and “Dawaai” (My Medicine) which provides medical assistance to patients who can’t afford paying the price of their medicines, according to Rami Al-Halabi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the institution.

Concerning the project “Dawaai”, which is dedicated to support patients, Al-Halabi told SANA that the project includes regularly providing medicines to some 1500 patients per month for free. It alleviates the burden of buying medicines for people with chronic diseases and provides medicines to a number of patients free of charge for a full year, that can be renewed according to the circumstances in which the family of the patient live, given the fact that securing medicine is difficult due to the repercussions of the terrorist war on Syria and the unfair economic blockade.

Al-Halabi said that that the institution works in cooperation with a number of concerned authorities to support small projects, including the initiative launched by the Lattakia Governorate in cooperation with the Relief Operations Room to support women who work to secure the needs of their families and improve their living conditions by working in the “Tanoor ovens” spread in the countryside of Lattakia Governorate. The initiative includes Distribution of 10 tons of flour to the owners of the tanoor ovens to support them in work and production of famous tanoor bread.

He stressed that the volunteer work in the institution constitutes a social and humanitarian situation that has contributed to supporting a large segment of the Syrian people, including the families of the martyrs, the wounded and the displaced families, and to providing services and material and psychological assistance to the targeted groups, through the efforts of young volunteers.

Al-Halabi also talked about the institution’s humanitarian and relief work during the earthquake crisis through sending convoys carrying food and relief materials to the families in the affected governorates in addition to launching bold donation campaigns to assist the medical teams in securing blood to injured persons.
