Damascus (ST): Parliament Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh met with the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Vahid Jalalzadeh, and the accompanying delegation in the People’s Assembly building.
During the meeting, Sabbagh stressed the strength and durability of the historical relations between Syria and Iran, which were baptized with the blood of the righteous martyrs from both countries, in defense of Syria and its sovereignty in the face of terrorism and its supporters.
He affirmed the need to redouble efforts to raise it to the highest levels and in various fields, especially parliamentarians, to serve the interests of the peoples of the two friendly countries, and unites positions towards their issues in international forums.
Sabbagh referred to the American occupation of parts of Syria’s lands and the looting of its wealth, in addition to the Turkish occupier cutting off water for more than a million citizens in Al-Hasakeh, which is a crime against humanity, in addition to the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.
For his part, Jalalzadeh pointed out that the Iranian-Syrian relations are distinguished and characterized by vitality, calling for their development more and more and expanding their horizons to include the economic and commercial aspects, expressing his thanks to Syria for its stances in support of Iran and its just causes.
Jalalzadeh affirmed that the victories achieved by Syria over terrorism proved that the will of the people is stronger than the forces of domination and arrogance, calling for holding a parliamentary conference in which the parliaments of countries suffering from unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the United States of America and Western countries will participate, with the aim of exchanging experiences in how to face these procedures.
