Antonov: Washington is trying to obscure its responsibility for thwarting the grain agreement

Washington (ST): The Russian ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov confirmed that the US administration is running a media campaign to obscure its responsibility for thwarting the grain agreement across the Black Sea.

The RT website quoted Antonov as saying in a statement: “Washington’s attempts to pressure developing countries to persuade Russia to return to the grain agreement are part of a media campaign to distort the reality of matters,” stressing that the United States is trying to evade its responsibility for the failures to implement the agreement.

Antonov added: Attempts to persuade Russia to return to the Black Sea initiative are meaningless in light of the continuation of the current circumstances. It should be noted that the grain agreement was concluded between Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations, and stipulates that Russia will allow the export of Ukrainian grain through a humanitarian corridor opened by the Russian fleet in the Black Sea, provided that Russian grain and fertilizers are allowed to reach the global market.
