Syrian-Iranian parliamentary meeting held in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Aug.8, (ST)- Today, the Speaker of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) Hammodeh Sabbagh received the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Islamic Shoura Council, Vahid Jalalzadeh and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Sabbagh stressed the strength of the historical relations between Syria and Iran, which were baptized with the blood of the martyrs from both countries, in defense of Syria and its sovereignty in the face of terrorism and its supporters.

He also talked about the need to enhance efforts in various fields, especially parliamentary field, to serve the interests of the peoples of the two friendly countries, and unites positions towards their issues in international forums.

Sabbagh referred to the U.S. occupation of parts of its Syria and looting its and to the Turkish occupation’s cutting off water for more than a million citizens in Hasakah, which is  described as a crime against humanity, in addition to the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.

For his part, Jalalzadeh pointed out that the Iranian-Syrian relations are distinguished , calling for expanding their horizons to include the economic and commercial aspects.

He expressed his thanks to Syria for its stances in support of Iran and its just causes.

Jalalzadeh affirmed that the victories achieved by Syria over terrorism proved that the will of the people is stronger than the forces of hegemony and arrogance, calling for holding a parliamentary conference in which the parliaments of countries suffering from unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the U.S. and Western countries will participate, with the aim of exchanging experiences on how to face these procedures.
