Damascus, (ST) – The Syrian Chamber of Shipping has restored its membership in the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping after its membership was suspended during previous years as a result of the unfair Western economic sanctions that prevented the payment of financial obligations.
The Ministry of Transportation stated that the Arab Federation made the decision starting from its keenness on maintaining the Chamber’s presence in the federation due to its effective role.
The ministry pointed out that this step came out of the belief of the current board of directors in the need for the chamber to be present in the Arab arena alongside its counterparts, within the framework of joint Arab action and the exchange of experiences in this specialization. The decision also coincides with the resumption of Syria’s participation in the meetings of the Arab League (AL).
