Minister of Finance discusses with the Ambassador of Bahrain boosting financial, banking and customs cooperation
On August 7th, Finance Minister Dr. Kinan Yaghi discussed with Bahrain’s Ambassador to Damascus, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, means of strengthening cooperation relations between the two countries in the financial, banking and customs fields, in addition to bilateral agreements and means of developing them.
Minister Yaghi indicated that the agreement to avoid double taxation has been in effect since 2002, and there is an economic cooperation agreement between the two countries signed since 1994 that stipulates exempting all imports between the two countries of national origin from all fees and taxes.
Minister Yaghi stressed the need to develop a draft cooperation agreement that is being discussed between the two sides to increase technical cooperation and mutual assistance in customs issues.
For his part, the Bahraini ambassador affirmed the depth of fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries.
He stressed his country’s support for Syria in international forums and its continued efforts to mitigate the effects of the devastating earthquake that hit Syria last February.
The two sides agreed on the need to activate bilateral agreements, enhance trade exchange, and continue coordination to resume meetings of the Supreme Joint Committee between the two countries, and to enhance cooperation in various economic fields.
