Syria calls on the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn the Israeli terrorist attack on the vicinity of Damascus

On August 7th, Syria called on the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn the Israeli terrorist attack on the vicinity of Damascus at dawn today.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that:

“The Israeli occupation authorities committed a heinous crime at approximately 2:20 a.m. on August 7, 2023, when the Israeli occupation forces carried out an air aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Arab Golan, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus, which led to the martyrdom of four Syrian soldiers, the wounding of four others, and material losses.”

The ministry added: “The persistence of the Israeli occupation authorities in its aggressive and terrorist policies, and its aggression coincided with the operations of the American forces illegally present on Syrian territory and the activity of its tools of terrorists and mercenaries in Syria, prove once again that (Israel) is a tool to spread chaos in the region.”

The ministry continued: “Syria, while strongly condemning this Israeli terrorist attack, which is a crime of aggression and a gross violation of international law and international humanitarian law, calls once again on the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn this aggression and other continuous Israeli attacks, and urges them to take immediate action to compel ( Israel) to desist from these aggressive policies and to demand that its protectors and sponsors enable the Security Council to carry out its responsibilities under the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security, and take the necessary measures to end the Israeli occupation of Arab lands, and put an end to the crimes of the occupation authorities, hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure that they are not repeated.”

Four soldiers were killed and four others were wounded as a result of an Israeli air attack that targeted some points in the vicinity of Damascus at dawn today, while our air defenses intercepted the aggression’s missiles and shot down some of them.
