Speaker Meets Public Freedom and Human Rights Committee

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] has underscored the need to reactivate Committee of Public Freedoms and Human Rights which is in charge of unmasking the armed terrorist groups’ acts against citizens nationwide.

Mohammad Jehad al-Lahham asked the committee to meet citizens whose rights and freedom have been violated, noting that the armed terrorist groups perpetrate war crimes against human beings. 

He, who was speaking in a meeting held today with the committee, stressed the importance of coordination between the PA’s committees within the constitution of the PA, which represents the legislative authority, in order to improve services being offered to citizens.

“There is a compelling need for cooperation among all citizens,” al-Lahham said, adding that citizens’ steadfastness, the Syrian Arab army’s sacrifices and Leadership’s keenness on preserving the national sovereignty are behind the steadfastness of the homeland in the face of the conspiracy and the ongoing war.

On the other hand, He clarified that the Saudi-backed Takfiri thought aims at distort Islam’s image.

Following the meeting, the committee’s Head Bade’a Saqqor told reporters that the committee of public freedoms and human rights is seeking to play an active role at the national arena to empower human being to practice his/her rights under the constitution.

The Syrian constitution guarantees every citizen freedom of expression so long as he/she doesn’t harm others.
