With the participation of Syria, activities of the International Festival of University Theater kick off in Tunisia

Tunisia (ST): With the participation of Syria, the activities of the nineteenth Edition of the International University Theater Festival were launched in the Tunisian city of Monastir.

Student theater groups from Tunisia, Syria, Libya, Morocco, Italy, China, Iraq, Bulgaria, Jordan, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman and Palestine are also taking part in the event.

The festival, which continues until the thirteenth of this month, opened with a performance by the University Theater Group from Tishreen University, titled (House on the Border), directed by Kamal Fadda and written by Slawomir Mrucic.

In his speech, the head of the Syrian delegation, Eng. Omar al-Jabai, member of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students and head of the Central Bureau of Culture and Arts, underlined the importance of participating in the festival and opening it with the Syrian theatrical performance, noting the depth of cultural relations between Tunisia and Syria, which did not stop throughout the previous period, as Syria participated in more than an artistic, sport and cultural event, indicating that the two brotherly peoples are historically bound by bonds of love and loyalty.

For his part, the head of the National Union of Syrian Students branch at Tishreen University, Tariq Alia, stressed the importance of the Syrian external participations, in order to see the art and theatrical creations of students from various Arab and foreign countries, indicating that the participation of Tishreen University in this festival comes after obtaining the first place in the former Syrian theatrical university festival.

The student, Wafaa Ghazal, expressed her happiness to participate in the festival and said: “We are very happy with this experience, which will benefit our young talents.
