“Casting” Syrian theatrical show participates in 57th Edition of Hammamet International Festival in Tunisia

The “Casting” theatrical show by director and writer Samer Mohamed Ismail continues its international tour through participating in the 57th edition of the Hammamet International Festival in Tunisia.

The participation of the show, which was produced by the Directorate of Theaters and Music in the Ministry of Culture, comes after its participation last year in the Mishkal Festival in Beirut and after its presentation at the Sun Theater in Amman, Jordan.  And, yesterday, “Casting” show was presented at the Olympic Theater in the city of Hammamet in Tunisia within the Hammamet International Festival in which teams from America, France, Belgium, Tunisia, Lebanon and South Africa are taking part.

The Tunisian audience attended the Syrian show, which was a great success since it was presented for the first time at the Al-Kabbani Theater in Damascus in October 2021.

Samer Mohamed Ismail, the director, said: “The theatrical show is a growing process and the Syrian theater artists present their performances abroad to inform the world about the development of theatrical art in Syria which has challenged the hardest living conditions over the past twelve years and produced distinguished and creative works.”

Ismail added: “The events of the play talk about the obsessions of a director who is looking for an actress who is far from the traditional standards and they tackle several cultural, social and artistic issues.”

It is noteworthy that the play “Casting” was produced by the Syrian National Theater, starring Amer Ali, Dala’ Nadera and Majd Naeem.

It is worth mentioning that the activities of the 57th  edition of the prestigious International Hammamet Festival began on the 8th of last July with theatrical, musical and choreographic performances, and it will continue until August 8th.
