Arab Organization for Agricultural Development visits the Arab Technical Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries in Lattakia

A delegation representing the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development on Saturday visited Lattakia governorate. The delegation toured the Arab Technical Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries with the aim of drawing up a plan to develop the Institute’s performance.

The agenda of the visit also includes visiting the forests that were exposed to fires in order to providing necessary support to fix the damage caused to these forests.

A meeting was held at the Arab Technical Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries bringing together Syria’s Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Mohammad Hassan Qatana and the Lebanese Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government Abbas Al-Haj Hasan, who is the executive president of the organization, in addition to Ibrahim Al-Dakhiri, Secretary General of the Organization and a number of experts in the organization and several directors in Ministry of Agriculture.

Qatana affirmed that the institute has a major role in training professional staff and specialists in the agricultural practices required in all fields. he said that it is necessary to develop and support its action plan by qualifying cadres concerned in environment, pastures, forests and fisheries.

He added that the institute also plays a key role in issues related to forests and climate change, indicating that organizations are working to implement policies and programs that contribute to providing technical and scientific support and transferring successful experiences.

For his part, Al-Dakhiri said that the organization is working according to a general strategy within the framework of transforming agricultural and food systems and protecting agricultural resources, including water, land, animal and plant wealth, in addition to achieving Arab integration in a number of fields, especially balanced rural development and knowledge sharing.

Minister Haj Hassan, in turn, pointed out that the visit of the organization’s delegation is a message that expresses the importance of Arab action mainly in the domains of food security and the stability of agricultural and food systems., He hailed the continuation of the work of the Arab Technical Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries in Syria despite all difficult circumstances.
