Social Affairs and Labor launches a rural development project to support the handmade carpet industry

Damascus (ST): The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor launched the rural development project to support the handmade carpet industry and its accessories in Syria.

The start of the project will be from Tartous governorate, according to the ministry, and in joint cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection and the Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Louay Al-Munajid, explained in a statement to news reporter that the project is to serve the owners of these professions in the Syrian countryside, and to activate and support the carpet industry and its workers by all means and capabilities, especially since most of the workers in this profession are from the families of the martyrs and the women who provide for their families.

Minister Al-Munajid indicated that the project is an integrated vision adopted to improve working conditions in this industry technically and in terms of quality and design, and to create a market for selling products and promoting them locally and abroad.
