Al-Mikdad holds talks with Ahmadian and Velayati on bilateral relations, recent developments

TEHRAN, Aug.1, (ST)-Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal Al-Mikdad, discussed with the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Rear Admiral Ali Akbar Ahmadian the bilateral relations and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.

Al-Mikdad thanked Iran for the support it has offered to Syria in its war on terrorism over the past years, stressing that the axis of resistance has stood firm and defeated terrorism, describing bilateral relations as very strong which were consolidated by the recent visit of the Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi to Syria.

For his part, Admiral Ahmadian thanked Syria for its support to the Iranian Islamic Revolution, describing relations as deep and historical. He also reiterated Iran’s support for Syria in its war against terrorism and in the face of conspiracies and plots being hatched by the west and Zionism.

Ahmadian added that Syria is subjected to an economic war and it will win in this war as it did in the political and military war.

He condemned the coercive measures imposed by the US and its allies against Syria and Iran in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and UN charter.

In the same context, Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to the Leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolution, during a similar meeting with Al-Mikdad, reiterated Iran’s firm support for Syria.

“Syria has won the war against terrorism,” Velayati said, calling for enhancing coordination and consultation between Iran and Syria in various fields.

For his part, Al-Mikdad appreciated Iran’s support for Syria and the Axis of Resistance.

He said that Syria is strong by its leadership, army, its people and the friendly countries that stood by it, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran.
