Defense Minister: Syrian armed forces  continue their heroic fight against terrorism

DAMASCUS, Aug.1, (ST)-Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Defense Minister, Gen. Ali Abbas has affirmed that the Syrian armed forces shoulder full responsibilities and continue their heroic fight against terrorism.

In a phone call with the Syrian TV. Channel, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of founding the Syrian Arab Army, Gen. Abbas greeted the armed forces and asserted that they represent, through their work, heroism, sacrifices and commitment to their national duties and tasks and firm expression of a deep-rooted history and human civilization.

The minister also greeted the families of the martyrs and the injured of the armed forces who were the symbol of sacrifice in defending the homeland’s dignity and honor.

Gen.  Abbas indicated that the Syrian Arab Army has played an important role throughout history in facing the foreign colonial projects in the past and in the present.

“Today, the Syrian Arab Army has a great operational and training capacity, which were demonstrated in the tactical projects that were carried out with live ammunition and contributed to the formation of regiments of officers who are capable of protecting the homeland and defending its land and sovereignty,” Gen.  Abbas said.

He concluded by congratulating the brave armed forces personnel and greeting the Syrian people, asserting that the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of the injured will always inspire the Syrian people and enhance their determination to defend their land.
