“The Silk Wills” musical evening on the 2nd day of “The Echo of Berries and Silk” Festival in Mashta El-Helou town
The bell of the Silk Factory in Mashta El-Helou rang on the second day of 11th Dilbeh Festival “The Echo of Berries and Silk”, not to call for work at the factory as it was before, but to invite the residents in the town to attend the festival’s second musical evening titled “The Silk Wills” led by Maestro George Tannous.
A group of Syrian academic musicians took part in evening. They began with ringing the factory’s bell, followed by a traditional monologue presented by Hassan Ajji, one of the locals in the town who witnessed the stages of work in the factory. The monologue highlighted the stages of silk production, starting from sowing and ending with the production of natural silk threads.
Several wonderful pieces of music for old songs that are still alive in the memory of the Syrian audience were also presented.
The people of Mashta El-Helou remember the days of the silk factory, when mulberry trees were abundant in the lands of this area. The status of the silk industry is still incurved deep in the memory of the people of Mashta El-Helou through the sound of the factory’s bell.
