Foreign Ministry: Canada and Netherlands are not qualified to give advice in the field of human rights

Damascus, (ST) – A source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday affirmed that Canada and the Netherlands’ rejection of the decision of the International Court of Justice to postpone the proceedings they two countries are taking against Syria is not surprising.

“These two countries believe that any action that is not in line with their own policies is a source of criticism, and they cannot bear any slap because it could undermine the basis of the measures they are taking”, the source said.

The source explained that the Canadian-Dutch statement is full of misinformation and lies, as does the campaign they are leading against Syria, which lacks the slightest degree of credibility.

“This campaign comes in the context of their full partnership in the aggression against Syria and support for terrorist organizations, and this is a proven fact that has sparked a resounding scandal among Dutch political circles”, the source added.

The source went on to say: The history of Canada and the Netherlands is stained with the crimes that were committed in the colonies against the indigenous people of the countries, which the governments of the Netherlands and Canada are trying today to wash their hands of by apologizing for them.

“These two countries are completely unqualified and they lack legitimacy to give advice in the field of human rights. Rather, they should be ashamed of the stigmas that stain their colonial black history”, the source added.
