Putin: The grain deal was used to enrich American and European companies

Moscow (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the grain deal was shamelessly used to enrich American and European companies, indicating that his country is ready to compensate Ukrainian grain for free or on a commercial basis.

Putin indicated in an article entitled (Russia and Africa, uniting efforts for peace, progress and a successful future) published on the Kremlin’s official website yesterday on the eve of the (Russia – Africa) forum, according to RT website, that none of the conditions of the grain deal related to lifting sanctions on Russian grain and fertilizer exports to global markets have been met.

Putin added: “They may have heard about the so-called grain deal, which was originally intended to ensure world food security, reduce the risk of hunger and help the poorest countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, and this is the reason for the fact that Russia committed itself to helping its implementation.”

Putin noted that this deal, which was “openly presented in the West as a manifestation of their care and benefit for Africa, was in fact shamelessly used only to enrich large American and European companies that exported grain from Ukraine and resold it.”
