Bishop Hanna: Conspiracies on Syria Target True Arab Christian Presence, all Syrian People Components
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, BEIRUT,(ST)_ Bishop Atallah Hanna Archbishop of Sebastia for the Greek Orthodox Church stressed yesterday during a meeting with a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church, the need for the solidarity of World Christian churches with Syria against the ordeal it has been experiencing of ” schemes and conspiracies targeting the true Arab Christian presence and all components of the Syrian people .”
The two sides stressed during the meeting that what Syria suffers from , is a ” scheme aims to dismantle and weaken the society by provoking rifts, sectarianism and factionalism, ” arguing the importance of solidarity with Syria and the failure of this scheme, and rejection of extremism , terrorism and abuse of human dignity .
The two sides stressed that ” Syria is a country of civilization , peace and love and it is our responsibility to work together in order to help Syria to get out of its ordeal , ” calling for taking urgent actions by world churches to assist the release of the abducted nuns by terrorists in Maloula and the two kidnapped bishops in Aleppo .
Takfiri terrorist groups recently kidnapped nuns in the monastery of Mar Takla in Maloula after attacking the monastery and sabotaging its contents.
The two sides agreed to continue needed consultations and contacts with all the churches of the world to explain the reality of what is happening in Syria .
Lebanese Orthodox Council Called to pray for the release of Maloula Nuns and the two kidnapped bishops
For its part, the Lebanese Orthodox Council reiterated its call on Orthodox and Christian associations , activists and meetings , to raise prayers in all churches for the release of Maloula abducted nuns and the two kidnapped bishops who were abducted in Aleppo by armed terrorist groups .
In a statement yesterday , the council called for a day of solidarity with the ” nuns abducted from Maloula in Syria and to participate in next Sunday evening prayers at the Church of Saint George’s in Jdedidt al Metin for Greek Catholics , headed by Bishop George Khodr at the invitation of Patriarch John X Yazigi for the immediate release of the nuns of Mar Takla Monastery in Maloula and the two bishops , Paul Yazigi and John Abraham . “
Vatican Pope Francis had made an appeal for the release of the nuns who were abducted by an armed terrorist group from the monastery of Mar Takla in Maloula in Rural Damascus and for all the people who were kidnapped in Syria .
