Syrian team participating in Arab Cup Powerlifting Championships continues its brilliance, adds 44 new medals
Beirut (ST): The Syrian team for physical strength participating in the IPF Arab Cup Powerlifting Championships 2023, currently being held in Beirut, won 44 medals (15 golds, 20 silvers and 9 bronzes) on the second day of the tournament.
In the (Masters I) 83 kg category, the player Sami Al-Barni won one gold and 3 silvers, while in the (Masters II) 83 kg category, Ali Qabban won 4 golds, and Mazen Jumaa won two silvers and two bronzes.
In the juniors category, Muhammad Al-Shami won a silver and 3 bronzes, Nader Katbeh won a bronze, and Muhammad Safwamar won 4 silvers.
In the youth category, Muhammad Khaled Mardini won a silver and Ammar Rabei won 4 golds, while Abdel-Aziz Darraj won a silver and 3 bronzes in the men’s category.
As for the female competitions, Israa Al-Masry won two golds and two silvers in the 66 kg weight women category, while in the juniors category, Lujain Hassan won 3 golds and a silver, and Rouaa Al-Damiati won a gold and a silver. In the young women’s category, Raghad Zain Al-Din won 4 silvers.
The head of the Physical Strength Union, Bilal Bahsas, indicated in a statement that the Syrian delegation is the largest among the teams participating in the tournament, namely Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Algeria, Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon, pointing out that the Syrian players managed to present remarkable level of skill.
