Iraq decides to expel the Swedish Ambassador in Baghdad against the backdrop of repeated incident of burning the holy Quran
Baghdad-The Iraqi government on Thursday decided to expel the Swedish ambassador in Baghdad and summon the Iraqi charge d’affaires in Stockholm, against the backdrop of repeated burning of the Holy Quran by Swedish extremists.
The spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Al-Sahhaf announced on Thursday that directives have been issued to withdraw the Iraqi embassador in Sweden and inform the Swedish embassador to leave Iraqi.
According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the media office of the Prime Minister affirmed, earlier today, that the emergency meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, condemned the burning of the Swedish embassy in Baghdad, while indicating that the Iraqi government had informed its Swedish counterpart that it will sever diplomatic relations with Sweden in the event of the recurrence of the Incident of burning the Holy Quran.”
