Syria condemns Israeli aggression on Damascus environs, calls on UN and Security Council to assume their responsibilities
Syria has strongly condemned Israel’s barbaric aggression on the outskirts of Damascus and called on the United Nations and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities and to act immediately to compel Israel to stop its criminal policies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement on Wednesday: “The Israeli occupation insists on committing terrorist crimes against Syria through which it expresses its inability, along with its terrorist tools, like ISIS and al-Nusra Front, to weaken Syria and its people. Today, the Israeli occupation forces carried out an air attack targeting some points in the vicinity of Damascus, which resulted in the injury of two soldiers, and some material losses.”
The Ministry added: “These criminal Israeli attacks not only threaten to explode and ignite the region but also pose a real threat to international peace and security.”
“Syria calls on the United Nations and the Security Council to act immediately to compel (Israel) to cease such criminal policies and flagrant violations of international law, international humanitarian law, and the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations, and calls on the Western countries, that protect and support Israel, to allow the Security Council to exercise its duties in the maintenance of international peace and security and to take the necessary action to put an end to the crimes of the Israeli occupation authorities, and to hold perpetrators accountable and ensure that they do not recur “, the Ministry concluded its statement.
