First Center for Manufacturing Prostheses opens at Aleppo University

Aleppo, (ST) – The University of Aleppo opened the Center for Designing and Manufacturing Prostheses within the Intelligent Robotic Systems Laboratory in the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. All of whose technical equipment was provided by the specialized Italian Association (AMAR).

The Head of the University of Aleppo, Dr. Maher Karman, said in a statement to SANA reporter that this cooperation contributes to developing the skills of the students and their technical specializations at the university, and to providing the war-wounded with necessary services for free.

Dr. Ibrahim Hadid, Secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party branch at Aleppo University said that this center is an important step to support the war-wounded and access the world of Artificial Intelligence and use it in helping people and improve living standards instead of using it in wars and destroying human civilization.

For his part, the Italian expert, Paolo Mazzola expressed his pride in visiting the city of Aleppo which has a history similar to that of Italy, saying: The aim of this project is to exchange experiences and cultures, which is an important step towards developing relations and deepening communication between the University of Aleppo and Italy.

The director of the Italian AMAR Association, Dr. John Basmaji (a Syrian expatriate in Italy for 55 years) said that his duty towards the country, in which he was brought up, requires him to return part of this debt, especially in the scientific and technical fields that help young people boost their abilities themselves and advance their country.

Engineer Dalia Qass Hanna from the University of Aleppo said: This laboratory includes two devices for manufacturing limbs using 3D printing technology, and it relies on the delta technology in designing prosthetic limbs  pointing out that training on the optimal use of these devices took place in Italy.
