Damascus (ST): The Syrian Science Olympiad team won two certificates of appreciation in the 2023 International Physics Olympiad, which was held in Japan from the 10th to the 17th of this month, with the participation of 87 countries.
The Excellence and Creativity Agency said in a statement that the two certificates of appreciation were awarded to students Mahmoud Muhammad Zaher Ayroud from Aleppo Governorate, Al-Mashreq Private School, and Anas Ali Mayeh from Tartous, the National Center for Distinguished Students.
In addition to Ayroud and Maya, the Syrian team comprised the two students, Amer Issam Al-Dali from Damascus countryside, Al-Basil School for Outstanding Students in Sehnaya, and Ammar Raqid Masoud from Hama Governorate, Shatha High School, under the supervision of the head of the Central Scientific Committee for Physics in the Syrian Science Olympiad, Dr. Aqil Salloum, and member of the Scientific Committee Dr. Mazen Hassan.
It is noteworthy that it is Syria’s tenth global participation in the International Physics Olympiad.
Last year, the Syrian team won a bronze medal and four certificates of appreciation.
