The Minister of the Higher Education and the Scientific Research Bassam Ibrahim discussed with the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Hossein Akbari, the cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of higher Education and scientific research, the axes related to mutual scholarships, scientific twinship programs in the specialized scientific fields , and the possibility of resuming and developing the executive program signed between the two countries.
Ibrahim stressed the importance of research and scientific exchange, and the promotion of the academic cooperation between the university institutions, especially specialized ones, to develop an environment of understanding in accordance with the approved contexts.
He pointed to the necessity of developing the executive program between the two countries, activating it in terms of developing cadres, exchanging the medical and scientific expertise, increasing scholarships, and addressing the issues of Syrian and Iranian students, indicating the importance of benefiting from the development taking place in Iran in the scientific, research and medical fields and in some precise specializations.
In turn, Ambassador Akbari stressed the importance of the Syrian Iranian relations, which are witnessing remarkable development at all levels, and the need to focus on the scientific, research and health relations to upgrade them to the level of political, economic, and social relations.
He pointed out that the Iranian side has a comprehensive plan for cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and some specializations and for increasing grants.
