4th Online Short Film Festival kicks off today at Al Kindi Cinema in Damascus 

The screenings of the 4th Online Short Film Festival start today at 5:00 pm at the Al-Kindi Hall in Damascus. The festival is launched by its administration in cooperation with the General Film Organization

The number of films of the festival reached 215 from 23 countries, of which the viewing committee chose 25 films in the official competition, with an increase of ten films compared to the previous festival.

Egypt participated with 6 films, Syria with 5 films, Iraq with 4 films, Tunisia with 3 films, Algeria with 3 films, Morocco with 2, and Saudi Arabia and Palestine with one film.

The results of the festival’s competition will be announced at 5:00 p.m. next Saturday in a ceremony that will be held at al-KindiCinema Hall in Damascus, and it will include the distribution of prizes for the best film, best Syrian film, best director, best screenplay, best actor and best actress.

The viewing committee included Ghamar Mahmoud as Chairman, and the membership of Awad Al-Qadr, GhufranDirwan, Hussam Hamdan, Hisham Pharaoh and Khaled Othman.

As for the jury, the director Firas Mohamed was the head of the committee, with the membership of both critic Nima Youssef and writer Kamal Marra.

The festival is chaired by director Bilal Haidar and general coordinator of the festival, Issa Omran.

The films participating in the official competition will be shown at five in the evening today and tomorrow in the al-Kindi Cinema Hall in Damascus, and they will also be shown at the same time electronically on the platform of the Film Museum, in a new step that takes place for the first time.
