Syrian Trust for Development, University of Damascus sign agreement to establish “Evotech Incubator”

Damascus (ST): With the aim of embracing the ideas of young people and investing their energies to transform them into pioneering projects, the Syrian Trust for Development signed an agreement with the University of Damascus to establish and operate a technolgy evolution incubator (Evotech Incubator), within the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Damascus University.

The agreement, which was signed at Damascus Univeristy,  is a first step of its kind that paves the way for young people to start their working life and professional path. The aim is to help them  contribute to achieving development in their societies, within intensive and participatory efforts between various parties, to create an innovative entrepreneurial environment for young people through pioneering technical projects that open broad economic horizons that generate income.

The project attracts job opportunities to enrich the economic sector and community development, which reflects positively on society as a whole.

In a statement to reporters, the Rector of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama al-Jabban, explained that the incubator will have a major role in qualifying and assisting a large group of distinguished university youth for the advancement of society, and also paves the way for future cooperation with students in all Syrian universities.

For his part, the CEO of the Syrian Trust for Development, Shadi Al-Ashi, stated that the agreement embodies the role of the Trust as a leading community institution to build the future through young energies, to achieve sustainable development using technology, to invest opportunities by networking with local and international partners, and to adopt a culture of creativity and innovation.

He indicated that the incubator accommodates 11 projects within strategic visions that the Secretariat seeks to implement in partnership with the university, as it is a well-established educational edifice.

The director of the (Evotech Incubator), Ghaith Wargo Zaq, in turn confirmed that the incubator, as an experiment, is the first of its kind, and it will provide students with a motivating environment with financial support to produce research and projects that can be marketed locally and abroad.
