Ministry of Tourism: Significant improvement in the various aspects of tourism work compared to previous years

Damascus (ST) – Since the beginning of the year and until the end of last June, the indicators of the tourism sector witnessed a remarkable improvement in various aspects of work, compared to the past few years, especially in the light of the increase in the number of Arab and foreign visitors coming to Syria that reflected positively on the revenues of hotels belonging to the Ministry of Tourism.

The ministry of Tourism stated that the tourism sector witnessed an increase in the numbers of arrivals by 37 percent, compared to the same period in 2022 as it reached one million arrivals, including 880,000 Arabs and 120,000 foreigners, most of them are of Lebanese, Iraqi, Bahraini, Jordanian, Russian, Pakistani, Iranian and Indian nationalities, including 96,000 visitors to the holy sites, with 612,000 hotel nights.

The ministry indicated that the increase in the number of Arab and Foreign visitors in the hotels by the end of June of 2023 was 22 percent, compared to the same period in 2022. The total number of guests was about 120,000, including 100,000 Arabs and 20,000 foreigners, during which they spent 650,000 hotel nights.

Regarding indicators of revenue development in the tourism sector until mid qà2023, the statement indicated that hotel revenues belonging to the ministry amounted to 38.5 billion Syrian pounds during the first half of this year, with a total profit of 7.5 billion Syrian pounds.
