Damascus (ST) – With the participation of 135 teams from all governorates, the National Championship for Robotics for the year 2023 will be launched by the Syrian Science Olympiad in the Excellence and Creativity Authority on the second of next July.
The authority noted that the championship includes 3 groups; the Damascus group that includes Damascus, its countryside, Quneitra and Sweida and their competitions will be held on July 2 and 4 at the Tishreen Sports City in Damascus, the Homs group 1 that includes Homs and Hama whose competitions will be held on July 4 and 5, and Homs group 2 that comprises Lattakia, Tartous and Aleppo whose competitions will be held on July 6 and 7 July at the National Center for Distinguished.
The championship includes 3 competitions, the first is robot tasks for three age groups: the elementary category for ages from 8 to 12 years to design robots that contribute to preserving marine life, the middle category for ages from 11 to 15 to design robots for infrastructure at the bottom of the oceans that help in the maintenance of submarine cables and the installation of marine server farms, and the upper category of ages from 14 to 19 years that is concerned with designing robots for self-driving ports.
The second is the Future Creators Competition, which also includes the three age groups, and has been dedicated to developing robot models that help connect people and places in a sustainable way.
The third is the Future Engineers Competition for ages 14 to 19 that includes designing robots for self-driving cars at record speeds that defy time.
It is noteworthy that this championship qualified for the World Robot Olympiad, which will be held in Panama next November under the title of Connecting the World. During the 2023 competitions, the three groups will learn how to ship logistics goods using ships, build robots that can help sea freight workers and the infrastructure needed for digital technologies to be safer and more sustainable.
