On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, Al-Mabarrah Women’s Association for Social Development and Orphan Sponsorship held today an entertainment and educational event for a number of children of the summer club, at the association’s headquarters in Damascus.
About 200 orphans and children of the summer club in the association participated in the event, which included recreational and cultural activities, competitions, a puppet show, and distribution of gifts to the participating children.
Rana Al-Baba, Executive Director of the Al-Mabarra Association, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the event aimed to integrate orphaned children with the rest of the children in society, in addition to refining their talents and enhancing their self-confidence. She noted that the activities of the association focused mainly on developing morals and good education that create effective and productive youth in community in the future.
She added: The association implemented a set of developmental programs for children in terms of caring for and developing their talents, in addition to free training courses for breadwinner women through the association’s centers and providing in-kind and cash assistance to needy families.
Al-Baba pointed out that the number of orphaned children benefiting from the services provided by the association reached 1,000 orphaned children.
The director of the summer club in the association, Aziza Al-Nursi, pointed out that the activities in the club included all educational and recreational activities that enhance the spirit of love among children, in a way that contributes to raising their awareness and developing their personality.
It is noteworthy that the Women’s Association for Social Development and Orphan Sponsorship was established in 1945, and works to support orphaned children and those who lack family care psychologically, educationally, and to secure housing for them.
