DAMASCUS,(ST)_The Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic has said that the giant freedom fighter Nelson Mandela is a symbol of resistance and anti- apartheid.
In a statement issued today on the death of Mandela, the presidency said: “The whole world has lost a leading freedom fighter, who struggled for freedom, justice and equality,” noting that the late Mandela was a human inspiration for vulnerable peoples across the globe and he will remain an inspiration for the coming generations and mothers will continue to give birth to freedom fighters.
The statement stressed that the late Mandela became a symbol of resistance and liberation from apartheid, hatred, occupation and repression.
“Generations, peoples and countries have learnt from Nelson Mandela, who represents a liberation movement, how to struggle for freedom and justice. He embedded the conviction that rights will never be lost as long as there is a struggle for getting them,” it added.
“Aggressors and oppressors have to learn that they will be the loser no matter what their potentials are”, the statement said, asserting that the late Mandela will be an example to freedom fighters, who are defending the peoples just causes, and to his family and to South Africa’s people.
