People in occupied Syrian Golan organize a strike and a day of rage in protest against the occupation’s repressive practices

People in the occupied Syrian Golan have announced that they will organize a strike and a day of rage on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023 in protest against the Israeli occupation’s repressive and criminal practices towards them.

During a meeting held Tuesday evening in Al- Marj area, located between the villages of Mas’ada and Majdal Shams, the people in Golan issued a statement in which they stressed their rejection of the occupation’s attempt to pass its settlement expansion plan by setting up wind turbines on their lands, a plan that is consideted as the most dangerous colonialist judaization scheme that targets the Golan.

The statement clarified that the occupation wants to pass this scheme under the pretext of generating electricity from wind energy while its real goal is to seize thousands of dunums of the Palestinians’ lands.

The Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday brought in reinforcements to besiege the agricultural areas in the occupied Syrian Golan where it plans to build wind turbines. However, residents of the occupied Syrian Golan headed to Al-Hafayer area, east of the village of Mas’ada to protest against the occupation’s provocative behavior, but the occupation forces prevented them from reaching their lands.

The Israeli occupation forces attacked the residents in Al-Hafayer area with gunfire and gas bombs, injuring dozens of them. The occupation also detained a youth, according to a SANA reporter.

However, the steadfastness of the people in Golan forced the occupation to leave the area.
