Marketing 2500 tons of wheat in Lattakia Governorate

The quantities of wheat marketed in Lattakia from farmers to the General Company for Grains branch have reached about 2,500 tons to date.

The director of the Company’s branch in Lattakia, Rabih Marwa, stated that the operations of receiving wheat have been continuing since the 20th of last May, through the centers of the Al-Sahel(Coast) Mill in the industrial area, and the martyr Orwa Ibrahim.

He said that the quantity delivered in the same period of last year did not exceed 617 tons.

He confirmed that the payment of the price of the delivered wheat takes place according to the personal identity of the farmers within 72 hours.

He explained that the Company implemented 137 percent of the milling plan during the month of May, despite the maintenance work that was carried out very quickly with the help of local expertise, which led to saving an amount exceeding 250 million Syrian pounds as milling fees, which were previously paid for special mills during the maintenance period.

He said that the Company also achieved profit in the productivity of truck cars, about 100 million pounds, during the same month, as a return on investing cars in transporting crops.

In turn, the head of the Farmers Union branch in Lattakia Adeeb Mahfoud said that the branch is following-up to all stages of the marketing process.

He pointed out that the areas cultivated with wheat were increased from 6,000 hectares last year, to reach 8,000 hectares this year, expecting to produce more than 14,000 tons of wheat in the province of Lattakia for this year.
