Forest Development Authority: Investing in a spring after it dried up 27 years ago

The engineering cadres of the General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forest managed to invest in the water of the Bab Al-Taqa spring, to which the water returned after a drought that lasted 27 years, to irrigate 20,000 dunums of the forest lands.

The Director of the General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forest, Eng. Awffa Wassouf, explained in a statement to SANA News Agency  that, as soon as the spring returned to life in good abundance, the engineering cadres in the authority began to develop engineering designs to invest in the spring’s water..

Wassouf pointed out that once the necessary engineering designs were put in place, the authority’s mechanisms began working to draw the abundant spring water with a path of 3,000 meters, to irrigate 20,000 dunums of winter and summer crops throughout the year, in the lands of the villages of Al-Sharia, Al-Khandaq, Al-Tuweneh, Nahr Al-Bared, and a section of Ain Al-Kroom.
