Iran, Venezuela sign 19 cooperation agreements

Tehran, (ST) – Iranian and Venezuelan officials signed 19 documents and memorandums of understanding for bilateral cooperation, in the presence of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, who is currently visiting Caracas, and his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro.

The memorandums included areas of cooperation in the sectors of communications, information technology, energy, insurance, maritime transport, higher education, agriculture, medicine, medicine, culture and the mining sector, in addition to the documents signed between the Iranian ministers of foreign affairs, oil, defense, health care and culture with their Venezuelan counterparts.

In a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart, the Iranian President affirmed that the relations between Tehran and Caracas are not ordinary diplomatic relations but rather strategic relations, pointing out that the Iranian people have proven their friendship with the Venezuelan people in difficult circumstances.

Raisi said that Iran and Venezuela have common interests and views in the areas of seeking independence, freedom and justice that brought together the peoples of these two countries, and on the other hand, they have common enemies that do not want us to live independently, which makes bilateral cooperation deep and strategic. He added that the two countries are determined today to develop relationships in various fields.

In another context, Raisi considered that strengthening power in the economic field is one of the most effective ways to deal with the unjust embargo imposed on Iran, stressing that Iranian youth have created opportunities from the embargo through knowledge-based companies and have been able to provide peace and stability for the country in the face of tensions and pressures.

Raisi stressed that there are large unused capabilities to increase economic exchanges between Tehran and Caracas, and that the way to achieve these exchanges is to make serious and effective investments.

Earlier, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed that his visit to Latin America is strategic and aims to strengthen political relations with countries that oppose the system based on unilateral domination.

Venezuelan Telesur TV quoted the Iranian president as saying at the beginning of his tour in Latin America that his visit to Venezuela is strategic and a turning point in deepening relations between them.

An official reception ceremony for the Iranian president was held in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, by his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro.

Nicaragua and Cuba are the next stops for the Iranian president’s official visit to Latin America.

The Iranian president is accompanied on this visit by the ministers of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Oil, Culture and Islamic Guidance, and Health and Treatment.

For its part, Hispan TV, an Iranian Spanish-language channel, stated that Iran and Latin American countries share several basic points, such as support for the Palestinian cause, Syria and Iraq, as well as their refusal to join the US sanctions against Russia as a result of the Ukraine military operation.
