The President of the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sayed, discussed with the President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information in the Sultanate of Oman and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Sultan Qaboos University, Nabhan bin Harith Al-Harassi, mechanisms to enhance joint cooperation in the field of preserving the Arabic language, and exchanging knowledge and information.
During the meeting, which was held in the building of the complex, the two sides discussed the importance and status of the Arabic language as a gathering force for the Arab peoples, and the need for cooperation in the field of preserving the language ,heritage and exchanging knowledge and information was emphasized.
During the meeting, it was agreed to exchange experiences in the field of research and publications, in addition to enhancing joint cooperation in the field of technology that works in the service of the Arabic language.
In a statement to SANA News Agency, Dr. Al-Sayed pointed out the importance of the relations between Syria and the Sultanate of Oman in all fields, especially the cultural one, and the role of the Academy of the Arabic Language in Damascus, which is considered the father of the Arab linguistic academies ,because of its role in contributing to the march of the Arabic language over more than a century, helping its spread and sustainability .
While also, the head of the academy pointed out the importance of the visit of the Omani delegation because of its great contribution to achieving rapprochement between the Omani and Syrian peoples and taking care of the cultural aspect, highlighting that one of the educated writers of the Sultanate of Oman was chosen to be a corresponding member of the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus.
In the end of the visit, the delegation also reviewed the achievements of the Academy in the service of the Arabic language, and Dr. El-Sayed presented the most important publications of the Academy to the visiting delegation, including books and dictionaries.
