Discover India, a Photography exhibition by Indian photographers  held in Damascus

Damascus (ST): The paintings of the 60th photography exhibition, organized by the Indian Embassy in Damascus, reflected aspects of the rich culture and ancient history that come alive in India.

Hosted by the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh,  Damascus, the exhibition, titled “Discover India”, included photographs highlighting the diversity of aspects of life in India, which were taken by the lenses of some of the best photographers in India.

They photographed its temples, ancient forts and museums, all the way to its modern cities and crowded markets. They also depicted  various forms of art, architecture and some pictures, the daily life of the Indian community, in addition to some commemorative photos that confirm the deep-rooted Syrian-Indian cooperation in many medical, scientific, cultural and social fields.

The exhibition was followed by a cultural symposium that focused on Indian civilization and its most prominent scientific innovations, in addition to a documentary video presentation of the elements of intangible heritage, including customs, traditions, the most important festivals in held in India, songs, clothes and popular food.

The Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mshaweh, said in a statement to reporters during the opening of the exhibition: “India is a friendly country that stood by Syria throughout the period of the terrorist war against it.

 “The peoples of the two countries were linked by the Silk Road in the past, and today we are strengthening cultural relations between the two countries to rise them to the level of political relations,” she added.
