Through a collection of sculptural artworks showcased in his exhibition entitled “ Harmony 2”, Syrian sculptor Wael Fawzi Hilal depended on the parallelism of the mass with the space , to embody human meanings that represented solidity and strength derived from basalt.
The exhibition was hosted by International Exhibition for Construction BUILDEX 2023 held on the grounds of the new fairgrounds in Damascus countryside.
It displayed 14 sculptural art works through which many ideas and themes were depicted from memory, history and reality.
Hilal stressed in a statement to SANA the importance of participating in this exhibition, as it is an important opportunity to communicate with engineering specialists in the field of design and decoration to benefit from their experiences.
Hilal believed that the artistic work that was born from nature must come out of the constraints of the galleries to be introduced to the largest number of the audience.
What distinguishes Hilali’s exhibitions in Syria and abroad is the visual identity that he presents through the curves of the lines on which he has been conducting his research and studies for nearly twenty-five years as the curved line has the effect of making him search in nature and the objects surrounding it to find that it is one of the secrets of the formation of the universe and the source of beauty
Hilal drew attention to the richness of Syrian-deep rooted civilizations that date back to thousands of years and has reached us through the creations of sculptors and plastic artists who left clear imprints, through which they became the first historians in human history, as they depicted their daily lives through their artwork.
“The Syrian sculpture policy witnessed the succession of many artistic eras, in each of which a group of plastic artists emerged who preserved through their works the cultural heritage and history, and continued to develop and flourish to this day” according to Hilal.
He indicated the Syrian artist accompanied the most important civilizations that passed through the history of mankind and embodied them in the most sincere way.
The Syrian sculptor Hilal added that currently he is preparing to hold several exhibitions in the United Arab Emirates, but he is always keen to participate in cultural and artistic events held in his country.
Hilal was born in 1978, and he is a member of the Plastic Artists Union. He has solo exhibitions, including the BUILDEX exhibition in Syria for 6 sessions, and other collective exhibitions such as the International Basalt Forum in the city of Al-Sweidah and the second basalt sculpture exhibition.
