Russian emergency units: 1736 people  rescued after destruction of Kakhovskaya station

Russian emergency units rescued 1,736 people, including 165 children, in the Kherson region, following the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by the Ukrainian regime forces, which led to major floods in the region.

“Since the start of the rescue operation, the Russian emergency services have rescued 1,736 people, including 165 children, and the number of people evacuated has reached 6,026, including 235 children,”, Novosti Agency quoted the emergency units as saying in a statement.

The statement pointed out that the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered about 75 tons of food and 30 tons of drinking water cans.

Some 795 members of the emergency services participated in repairing the damage caused by the disaster.

In addition, the acting head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, stated that the water level in Novaya Kakhovka city has decreased by about 3 meters to 7 meters, which contributes to the start of water pumping and garbage collection from the streets.

Last Thursday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Anatoly Sopronovski announced that the destruction of the “Kakhovskaya” station resulted in the flooding of 14,000 homes in 15 residential communities in the Kherson region, and that the process of evacuating people from the affected areas is still continuing.
