KUWAITT, (ST)- The Director-General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), Dr. Rafiq Ali Saleh, discussed with the Director of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources in Kuwait ways to develop cooperation between the two sides in the field of agriculture and livestock production.
During the meeting held recently in Kuwait, the Director of ACSAD referred to the keenness of the Center to promote scientific and technical cooperation with the Authority to achieve optimum utilization of modern technologies and the application of sound management of natural resources and the development of efficient cadres in Kuwait to serve sustainable agricultural development.
Dr. Saleh expressed the Centre’s willingness to provide all that would contribute to the achievement of sustainable agricultural rise in Kuwait in particular and the Arab countries in general, noting the support provided by the State of Kuwait to the center.
For his part, the Director of the Authority, Engineer Jassim Mohammed Habib Al-Badr,noted the important role played by ACSAD to achieve sustainable Arab agricultural development and improving scientific and applied performance in recent years in all fields.
The two sides agreed to expand the activities of ACSAD in Kuwait, according to results of the workshop convened by the center, in cooperation with the German Agency for Technical andInternational Cooperation to display the scientific outstanding expertise accumulated by ACSAD in various agricultural fields that can contribute to the development of agriculture and livestock production and preservation of the environment in Kuwait.
The aim of this workshop is to enable decision makers and experts in Kuwait to see the experiences of the Arab Center “ACSAD” in the areas of early warning of drought and desertification control and management of irrigated agricultural enterprises by using modern technologies in irrigation and rangeland management, rehabilitation and development, and the development of the productivity of small ruminants.
