Syria took part in the meetings of the permanent committees of the Arab Parliament held in Cairo on Friday. The Syrian parliamentary delegation was led by Ahmed Saleh Ibrahim, member of the People’s Assembly and head of the General Union of Farmers.

In a statement to SANA, Ibrahim said that “Syria’s participation in the activities of the Arab Parliament is greatly welcomed as it encourages us to work together to develop our Arab situation and our collective organizations, mainly the Arab Parliament”.

He noted the need for collective action to expel all terrorist organizations from all Arab territories, stressing that the Palestinian cause remains a central issue for all the Arabs.

He went on to say that the Arab Parliament discussed during the meetings of its committees yesterday the issue of the American and Turkish occupation of Syrian territories, stressing the need to end this occupation immediately.

The permanent committees discussed several political and foreign issues, as well as topics related to national security,  financial, legal, educational and cultural affairs.

Means of strengthening the economies of the Arab countries in a way that leads to Arab integration based on healthy economic relations and common Arab market were also discussed.
