Al-Mikdad congratulates his Algerian counterpart on electing Algeria as non-permanent member of UN Security council

Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faisal Al-Mikdad, sent a message of congratulation to Mr. Ahmed Attaf, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, on electing Algeria as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2024- 2025

Al-Mikdad reiterated Syria’s appreciation over Algeria’s great support during the years of war, and during the earthquake catastrophe that hit Syria in February.

“We have received with great joy the news of electing your country to occupy a non-permanent seat at the UN Security council for the years 2024- 2025,” Al-Mikdad said, according to SANA.

“We are confident that Algeria, the country of a Million Martyrs, was and will always be able to assume its responsibilities as an effective member in the international community and an outstanding representative of Arab and African countries,” Al-Mikdad added.

“Being a member at the Security Council, Algeria will contribute to upholding the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter in addition to enhancing international peace and security, preserving multilateralism away from Western hegemony.”

In his message, Al-Mikdad expressed Syria’s gratitude for Algeria’s firm support to the Syrian people in addressing the devastating earthquake and the terrorist war, hailing the coordination and effective cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Mikdad also affirmed that Syria will spare no effort to make the membership of brotherly Algeria a success at the Security Council to serve the Arab causes and the interests of the two brotherly countries.
