Opinion poll: 95% of the Czechs reject military treaty with the United States

Prague, (ST)- An opinion poll, conducted by the Czech “Parliamentary Papers” website, have showed that 95% of Czech citizens reject their government’s conclusion of a military treaty with the United States that would open the way for a US military presence in Czech territory.

The site indicated that the poll included 19,064 people with only 4 percent expressing their approval of the treaty.

On the 23rd of last May, Jana Chernokhova, Czech Minister of Defense, signed an agreement with her American counterpart allowing the presence of American forces and military bases on Czech lands, which sparked a wave of protests among politicians and at the popular level.
